I’ve read several articles (like this one, and this one) about how the Los Angeles Convention Center is not able to attract tradeshows because of the lack of nearby hotels.

Well I’ve completed their online “space availability form” twice now and left three messages over the past two weeks checking on space for 2007. So far no email and no returned phone call. So here’s a tip - if you don’t respond to phone calls or online requests for information from show producers who actually want to have an event in your convention center, you may have a difficult time getting shows to come to your venue.

I have a few friends on the City Council, but should I really have to call in a favor just to get a return phone call asking to do business with them?
